This must make it hard for him

to breathe. For all I know,

my banker might say please,

again and again in the shower

and with the car windows

rolled up. Or, like me,

he might have scraped his elbow

as a boy and it didn’t bleed.

Not exactly. It looked like it might.

And he may have spent

the whole afternoon

wondering why,

when the skin opened,

everything wouldn’t

come rushing out.
